August 23 Slavery Remembrance Day
United State of America

Dear Editor,
Thank you for posting the awareness of our event to the people in Dallas/Fort Worth, however, there are some modification to the article that should be revisied. Please review the facts below:
The city became the exclusive U.S. host site for the Global Slavery Remembrance Day, an event sponsored by the day to day hard working people of Dallas/Fort Worth with the support of the U.S. National Committee of United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The reception and ceremony took place on August 23rd, on the rooftop of West & Associates Building.
August 23rd was designated and declared as the Official Internation Day for the Remembrance of the Revolt and its Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade that took place on August 22 and 23, 1791 and is the only victorious slave revolt known in the history of the slave trade. It took place in Santo Domingo, today Haiti, led by an African slave by the name of Toussaint Louverture, a key development that helped lead to the 1808 U.S. Abolition of the banning of illegal importation of African Slaves into the United States. So on August 23, 2008, here in Dallas, Texas, Global Slavery Remembrance Day (Project A23.com) commemorated two celebrations for the United States of America - (#1) The August 23rd International Slavery Remembrance Day, and (#2) The 200th Bicentennial Anniversary of the United States Abolition of the Slave Trade Act of 1808 signed into law by Thomas Jefferson in 1807 to be established on January 1st, 1808 (1808-2008).
